The IPHA executive would like to extend a huge thank-you to all the attendees of our Aboriginal Healthcare event. The turnout was our largest ever, and the event was overall a great success! A special thank-you goes out to our three amazing speakers: Dr. Michael Robidoux, Dr. Cory Harris, and Ms. Demi Mathias. Their insight into the topic of Aboriginal healthcare was very valuable and much appreciated. Stay tuned for more panel events coming up in the future!

Save the date! IPHA is hosting our first ever panel event, which will be tackling the issues surrounding Aboriginal healthcare in Canada. The event will be taking place on Monday March 13, from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Several panelists will be speaking, who come from multiple disciplines. More details on the speaker lineup to come!

The IPHA executive had the opportunity to meet with Dr. John Gilbert, who is the founder and co-chair of the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative and serves on the World Health Organization (WHO) board for Social Determinants of Health. He had many great ideas and suggestions for IPHA going forward, so stay tuned for what’s to come in 2017!

Healthcare Team Challenge
The uOttawa Interprofessional Health Association will be hosting our annual Healthcare Team Challenge! This year’s theme is palliative care, and we have a speaker who works as a Recreational Therapist in a paediatric palliative care hospice. Practice the interprofessional skills you’ll need as a future healthcare provider! In this fun and interactive challenge, you will learn to work as a member of a team with students from different programs by solving a case-based healthcare scenario.
